When Phillip Garrido had a background check carried out on him three women were set free
Liza Campbell, special events manager at the University of California, Berkley, was approached by Garrido with his two girls in tow. A talk occurred regarding Garrido using a hall at the University for one of his events. She had another commitment, so she asked him to return the following day.
Liza was struck by the passion that Garrido spoke with when he talked about the function he wanted to hold on the University campus. Garrido’s two daughters needed to have been at school. The girls told Liza they were home schooled. They were looking controlled, inconspicuous, and unemotional. Liza’s instincts were on high alert. She had an uneasy feeling something was wrong.
Liza just didn’t care for Garrido. Her feelings told her that something just wasn’t right about his two children and so she did a background check on Phillip Garrido. This check revealed that Garrido was on parole after a rape conviction and was a registered sex offender. Liza then contacted Allison Jacobs, Police Officer, explained the strangeness of the meeting with Garrido, and requested Allison to sit in on the meeting that she had organised for tomorrow.
Jacobs was on the lookout for anything suspicious, particularly child abuse. Gradually Allisons motherly instincts took over. Jacobs knew something was wrong. She was worried for these little girls. Reporting the meeting to Garrido’s parole officer and the presence of the two girls Allison couldn’t have been prepared for what happened next. Back came the stunning news. “Garrido doesn’t have any daughters!”

Allison’s heart sank down to her stomach!

Just stop for a moment and think. How would you feel if your intuition told you that something wasn’t right about a person? But this time you acted on your suspicions,carried out a background check, solved an FBI case, solved a horrific crime, put that person in jail and freed that person’s captives.
