Background Check: freed Jaycee from Eighteen years of incarceration

A Background Check on Phillip Garrido lead to Jaycee Lee Dugard being set free from 18 years of captivity.

Liza Campbell felt huge amounts of disquiet about Philip Garrido so she ran a background check on him to find out exactly who he was. The report declared he was a violent sex offender on parole. It was this ‘suspicion’ coupled with a ‘background check’ that lead to Jaycee being freed after 18 years of captivity.

In more detail. Phillip Garrido with his two girls in tow approached Liza Campbell, Special Events Organiser at the University of California, Berkley, to talk about hiring a hall at the campus. She had another commitment, so she asked him to return the following day.

It was as a result of this initial encounter with Garrido that lead to Liza running a background check on him and exposing his disturbing record. Campbell then asked Allison Jacobs, Police Officer, to sit in on the meeting the next day.

This lead to Jacobs informing Garrido’s parole officer of the two daughters and then the whole sorry saga unfolded.

Thank goodness we can now all carry out Background Checks when we have suspicions!
