Background Check:brought Garrido’s reign of terror to an end

A Background Check on Phillip Garrido eventually lead to Jaycee Lee Dugard being set free from eighteen years of incarceration and her two daughters gaining their freedom

Liza Campbell, special events manager at the University of California, Berkley, was spoken to by Garrido with his two girls in tow. Garrido needed to find out about using the University campus facilities for putting on his activity. She had another commitment, so she asked him to return the following day.

Garrido was animated, passionate, and full of excitement about the function he wanted to stage. It was one o’clock but Garrido's two children were not at school. Each girl said they were home schooled. Alarmingly catatonic. Liza just felt there was something about his children that wasn't OK.

Liza just didn't feel right about Garrido. Her feelings told her that something just wasn't right about his two children and so she carried out a background check on him. This check disclosed that Garrido was on parole following a rape conviction and was a registered sex offender. At Liza’s request Police Officer ,Allison Jacobs, sat in on the next meeting between Liza and Garrido.

Chatting to the two sisters Allison was on the lookout for any give away signs of child abuse. The hairs on her neck stood up as her motherly protectiveness came to the front. Jacobs knew something was wrong. Jacobs was worried for these little girls. The response astonished Allison. She contacted Garrido's parole officer after the meeting and told him of Garrido's two daughters . The whole world reeled at the appalling reply. “Garrido doesn't have any daughters!”

Allison’s heart sank down to her stomach!

Just let us all take a deep breath and ponder this . What if you don’t know why but you just had a bad feeling about someone? But this time you acted on your suspicions,ran a background check, cracked an FBI case, solved a horrific crime, put that person in jail and freed that person’s captives.

We should all be so proud and grateful to Liza and Allison for acting on those protective motherly feelings.
