Background Check:placed Phillip Garrido in jail

Once Phillip Garrido had a background check carried out on him three women were set free

Liza Campbell, special events manager at the University of California, Berkley, was accosted by Garrido with his two girls in tow. A discussion occurred regarding Garrido hiring a hall at the University for one of his functions. She had another commitment, so she asked him to return the following day.

Garrido was elated, eager, and full of excitement about the event he wanted to organize. Garrido's two daughters were of school age but not at school. Garrido's two children said they were home schooled. But they were very emotionally disconnected. Something just wasn't right. Liza knew it. Her motherly instincts had kicked in.

Liza just didn't care for Garrido. Instincts told her that something just wasn't right about those girls and so she ran a background check on Phillip Garrido. The statement came back and Liza discovered that Garrido was a registered sex offender on parole for rape and kidnapping. Liza then contacted Allison Jacobs, Police Officer, explained the strangeness of the meeting with Garrido, and asked her to sit in on the meeting that she had organised for the next day.

At the next meeting Jacobs began to involve the girls in a chat, observing any signs of abuse. It wasn't Jacobs Police instincts as much as her motherly instincts that made her take notice. Jacobs knew something was wrong. She was worried for these little girls. Relaying the meeting to Garrido's parole officer and the presence of the two girls Jacobs couldn't have been prepared for what happened next. We all reeled from the appalling answer. “Garrido doesn't have any daughters!”

Allison’s heart sank down to her stomach!

Just let us all take a deep breath and ponder this . How would you feel if your instincts told you that something was wrong about a person? But this time you acted on your suspicions, carried out a background check, solved an FBI case, solved a terrible crime, put that person in jail and freed that person’s captives.

We should all be so proud and grateful to Liza and Allison for acting on those protective motherly feelings.
