Carrying out a background check on Phillip Garrido ended eighteen years of depravity
Liza Campbell, special events manager at the University of California, Berkley, was accosted by Garrido with his two girls in tow. A discussion took place regarding Garrido using a hall at the University for one of his events. She had another commitment, so she asked him to return the following day.
Garrido was elated, passionate, and full of excitement about the event he wanted to organize. The girls ought have been at school. His daughters claimed that both parents schooled them at home. Alarmingly catatonic. Liza’s instincts were on red alert. She had an uneasy feeling something was wrong.

At the following meeting Jacobs started to encourage the girls in conversation, checking for any signs of abuse. Slowly Jacobs motherly instincts took over. Jacobs knew something was wrong. Allison was worried for these little girls. What happened next stunned her. She contacted Garrido’s parole officer after the meeting and told him of Garrido’s two daughters . The whole world reeled at the stunning reply. “Garrido doesn’t have any daughters!”
Allison’s heart sank down to her stomach!
Lets all pause for a moment and consider. How would you feel if your instincts told you that something was strange about a person?
