A Background Check on Phillip Garrido lead to Jaycee Lee Dugard being set free from 18 years of captivity.
Liza Campbell felt huge amounts of anxiety about Philip Garrido so she ran a background check on him to find out exactly who he was. The report told her that in fact he was a registered sex offender and was on parole for a violent rape conviction. Jaycee’s freedom is entirely due to that background check. A background check carried out by a suspicious Liza Campbell.

I’m baffled . What if! Just think if it wasn’t possible for Liza Campbell to carry out a background check? What would have happened? How much longer would Jaycee have to cope with captivity? How much longer would Garrido’s depravity go undiscovered?
The facts as they unfolded started with Phillip Garrido discussing with Liza Campbell, special events manager at the University of California, Berkley, about holding an event at the campus. She had another commitment, so she asked him to return the following day.
It was as a result of this initial encounter with Garrido that lead to Liza running a background check on him and discovering his disturbing record. Campbell then asked Allison Jacobs, Police Officer, to sit in on the meeting the next day.
After this second meeting Jacobs informed Garrido’s parole officer and the events as you know them became unravelled .
These days we can all have our suspicions allayed or confirmed by carrying out our own Background Checks. Thank goodness Liza did.
