People Magazine published the 1st public and exclusive photos of Jaycee Lee Dugard, 29 years. Jaycee said, “I’m so happy to be back with my family”, she told the magazine. "Nothing is more important than the unconditional love and support I have from them.” How stunning Jaycee looks. Giving hope to so many families with missing children and uplifting the rest of us. She looks incredibly happy now she is back with her mother and family. A face that conceals her age and what she has had to suffer.
Jaycee Lee Dugard was kidnapped in 1991 when she was just 11 years old. A typical, innocent short walk from her home in South Lake Tahoe, CA to the school bus stop, within sight of the house, ended with Jaycee being kidnapped. Standing in his garage entrance, Carl Probyn, Jaycee’s stepfather, watched her as she walked towards the school bus stop close by. He was dumbfounded when he saw a gray sedan with two people in pull up next to Jaycee. A woman got out and pulled Jaycee into the car before speeding off. Carl dashed after the car on his bike but couldn’t keep up with them as the two people in the car sped off with Dugard trapped inside.
Angel, 15, and Starlit, 11, are Jaycee's daughters, apparently fathered by Phillip Garrido, 58; a registered sex offender who police say raped her repeatedly over the years. The yard at the back of Garrido’s home outside Antioch, California, is were Jaycee and her children lived, never frequenting school in all those years or ever seeing a Doctor.
The building is in the name of his ailing mother who resides there with Phillip Garrido and his wife, Nancy, 54.
This backyard area, shrouded by mimosa trees and hidden by a tall wooden planked boundary fence, featured a hellish warren of four tents and five shacks. It was in this secluded area of foul canvas tents, tarpaulin, wooden shacks and rubbish that Jaycee and her two daughters lived.
Altogether Phillip Garrido and his wife Nancy Garrido face a combined total of 29 felony charges, including forcible abduction, rape and false imprisonment.
Jaycee and her two daughters are now living in seclusion with her mom, Terry Probyn, 50, and family. A family spokeswoman said Jaycee was riding horses, cooking meals and thinking of collaborating on a book.
We mustn’t allow these wonderful photos to in any way reduce the horror that Jaycee and her family have endured over the last eighteen years or in any way belittle the very difficult road to recovery that Jaycee will have to go through.
They do however give us all hope. The sort of hope that comes from seeing another human being putting on a heartwarming smile even after suffering 18 years of hell.
It is truly inspiring.
Lets all wish her well on her road to recovery.
