Did you understand that we allowed Nancy and Phillip Garrido to meet and marry in Leavenworth Penitentiary in Kansas whilst he was serving a 50-year federal sentence for kidnap and violent sexual assault?. She was 26 and he was 30. His psychiatric evaluation diagnosed him as a "sexual deviant and chronic drug abuser”.
In spite of this we let Nancy not only to meet Phillip Garrido in prison but provided them sufficient time together to form a relationship, get engaged and eventually marry whilst he was still incarcerated! Are we stupid or what? Astounding!
The issue of Prison Marriages needs to be re-examined!
Did we allow a sexual deviant, Phillip Garrido, to entrap a weak, vulnerable Nancy? Or was Nancy a willing female pedophile?
Perhaps one of society’s ultimate taboos is the concept of ‘female pedophiles acting alone’. With Nancy and Phillip Garrido there is an assumption by society that Nancy is feebly minded and was coerced by Phillip.This is how we take away any responsibility she has for the abuse of the child. Society just can’t countenance that the woman is an enthusiastic participant.
Female sexual abuse is much more threatening to the fabric of our society- it undermines our core beliefs and feelings about how women should relate to children.
This invokes the question, “Is Nancy a female pedophile?” Was she intimidated or acted willingly?
Wherever the truth of this lies there is one particular point we cannot hide from. We paid for the wedding!

While he was caged in prison Phillip Garrido met Nancy. She was there visiting another degenerate, her uncle. On October 5, 1981, Phillip Garrido and Nancy Bocanegra were married at Leavenworth. What were the Prison authorities doing when they permitted this marriage to go ahead, despite the fact Phillip Garrido wasn’t discharged for another seven years?
Let me repeat my question. Did we place a weak and vulnerable woman under the power and control of a diagnosed incarcerated “sexual deviant” or are women pedophiles much more responsible for their abuse of children than society wishes to admit?
Prison Marriages. Have we let our prisons be meeting places for sexual deviants? Not only that we then marry them!
