Background Check: Captures Another One! Phillip And Nancy Garrido And Now Wright

A background check finally nailed Phillip and Nancy Garrido. With some home grown suspicion and a mother’s protective instincts.

First Liza Campbell, Events Organiser,University of California, Berkeley, after seeing Phillip Garrido with his two daughters, became suspicious and carried out a Background Check on him which showed from his record he was on parole after a particularly nasty sexual conviction and that he was a registered sex offender .

Because of this Liza asked Police Officer, Ally Jacobs, to be with her the next day at a meeting with Garrido and his two daughters .

Alison Jacobs’ motherly feelings showed her something just wasn’t right about the girls and told Garrido’sparole officer .

Back came the shocking news. She felt sick to her stomach. Garrido didn’t have any daughters!
In the case of the abduction of Jaycee Lee Dugard from the school bus stop within sight of her home in South Lake Tahoe, California, in 1991, the Garrido’s now faced a combined total of 29 felony charges.

Johnny Wright was apprehended on 23rd September after attempting to apply for a driving job in an Atlanta suburb. The job required a routine background check for the job application. It was Wright who went to the Police Station in Lawrenceville, Georgia, to get the Background Check carried out! When Johnny Wright came back the following day to get the paperwork he was arrested on a warrant issued in Missouri in 1985 for second-degree murder committed way back in 1976!

If only someone in the last 24 years had been suspicious enough of Wright to have carried out a Background Check on him, just like Liza Campbell did with Garrido. Perhaps Background Checks should form part of every job application?
