We may all criticise Television on some occasion or another for being fundamentally poor quality tv, and frequently for good reason. Every now and again something superior comes on the television and when that occurs you realize that only the power and money of Tv could have achieved this. Only TV’s monetary resources might have pulled it off. I understand that it’s all connected to getting good ratings, good advertising revenue, big budgets, and so on, nonetheless when it does so much good it doesn’t appear to matter quite so much. The actual programme I am referring to is the recent ABC Show ‘Find My Family’.
The creators came up with the concept of taking us through each and every stage of reuniting severed families, families who have lost touch, perhaps through no fault of their own. At times the years roll silently by and some of us just lose touch. Sometimes we are just too young to avoid getting ripped apart from other family members. Kept apart for many years with no communication, never discovering if they are looking for us or even thinking of us. In most cases too young to do something about it. Subject to the suppression and power of other family members until many years later when we are older and smarter we eventually decide to do something about it.
Watching all these incidents happen before our eyes can be both fascinating and uplifting.
We are taken through the psychological rollercoaster that individuals in these situations can go through. We start with the heartbreaking motivation to find someone and become reunited. We are told the typically tragic situations in which they are separated in the first place. We follow the endeavours of the researchers as they track down various people in the family. Their pains taking efforts of research are observed step by step as they unearth the one they seek. Ultimately we share the heart warming reunion. A whirlwind of real life events. Events that no soap could possibly ever match. Alarming, incredible, captivating and the heart wrenching testimonies that ultimately genuinely inspires us.
As humbling as these events are they can also inspire us to renew our own contacts that we may have lost over the years. Anyone that we have fond memories of from several years past but have let slip from our lives. Old friends, old loves, even old dear family members may all be reunited after some effort on our part. So i am going to start my list today. What about you?
